Created 14th October 2021, in the Yorkshire Dales in the north of England.
I am continually inspired by the modern food culture, style and art of so many different regions in Asia. Dalgona coffee was popularised by South Korean social media, but I was interested to learn that whipping instant coffee and sugar together is enjoyed in different combinations all over the world. It’s an almost magic combination, a silky, shiny mixture of unparalleled gloss with a rich, almost metallic, golden brown.
Colour scheme: Deep lilac purple and pink with a bright, glossy golden brown. Also available in vintage blue.
Process
Set constructed by the artist. Instant coffee and caster sugar whipped together by hand and dolloped artfully.
