Created 9th June 2014, in Stockholm in the south of Sweden.
I grew these mushrooms and photographed the whole of their life cycle. I’ve never seen a living thing like it. This is one of my earliest food photographs and these mushroom photos have almost had cultural impact. Through the tentacles of the internet, I’ve seen other artists use the images to make something completely new, in different countries around the world. From a record cover to incredible fantasy pastel art.
Colour scheme: Dreamy coral-pinks.
Pink oyster mushrooms grown from spores by the artist.
